What are dental implants?
Dental implants are long-term fixtures that are screwed to the mandible jaw, and hence replace lost or deteriorated teeth. This is an invasive procedure. It requires extracting the affected tooth and creating enough room for the dental sleeve, where the new crown will be placed. A new artificial tooth with a totally natural look.
This procedure is made with local anesthetics and may take several months until it’s completely finished. That is the time the bone needs to grow and fuse with the titanium screw, to ensure the new piece has solid support and prevents it from moving. During that period, a temporary prosthetic is provided to reduce the esthetic impact of the overall treatment.

Despite being an invasive procedure, dental implants are well known for their very satisfactory results in terms of function and aesthetics.
Titanium sleeves are compatible with the bone, which grows around it and provides a solid base. Once integrated into the mandible bone they have a high durability and resistance, if properly taken care of. Insufficient hygiene may let food debris and plaque in them and create long-term complications.
In general, these variables depend on each patient’s oral health and habits. These aspects are examined and explained in the first personal interview we have with everyone. Nevertheless, dental implants are not the best option for everybody, and are not recommended for people suffering some diseases and conditions such as pregnancy.
The whole treatment should last around 3 months to ensure it heals correctly and gives strong support to the new tooth.
Once the treatment is completed, the new dental implant replaces the original tooth in all aspects. You will barely notice the difference, for how natural it feels. And it’s completely invisible for everyone else.

Despite being artificial pieces, dental implants a have a completely natural look. They are even made with the natural texture and color of the patient’s teeth. Their wear and tear is minimal and their durability goes beyond 20 years. That however doesn’t take away the need of good oral hygiene habits, meaning special toothbrushes and regular visits to the dentist.
Again, this is an invasive intervention. Tooth roots need to be removed, and space, where the implant will be placed, has to be prepared. This procedure is made under local anesthetics in order to reduce the patient’s discomfort. Once it’s done, the patient is able to leave the clinic by himself and is provided temporary prosthetics to reduce the intervention’s aesthetic impact. Dental implants are also permanent, although that doesn’t prevent removing or replacing the crown in case of damage or complication. And that makes them a very convenient long-term option.
