Dental crowns are artificial pieces used to cover the visible part of a tooth without removing its root. This allows using existing healthy tissues and recover their strength and look. Unlike implants, dental crowns are placed on a tooth’s stump, or may cover an entire tooth if it’s too small. In general, that means grinding and buffing the existing tooth to make room for the crown. That is a slightly invasive procedure made under local anesthetics.
